Malinda M. Brandt, 95, of Waukon, died Thurs., March 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Mon., March 5, at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. A VFW Auxiliary memorial service took place on March 4.

Malinda Marie Reinhardt Brandt was born June 4, 1905, in rural Luana. Her parents were William and Anna (Miene) Reinhardt. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville and attended the rural Clayton County schools. She moved with her family to the St. Cloud, MN, area for a time before returning to northeast Iowa.

On Dec. 17, 1921, she married Ray Brandt in Postville. Malinda was a homemaker and also worked at the Soda Grill Restaurant when her son, Kenneth, operated it. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Malinda enjoyed playing cards, was a good cook, and liked to keep up with the activities of her grandchildren. She has been a resident of Good Samaritan Center since 1996.

Malinda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include 2 sons, Kenneth (Betty) Brandt of Waukon and Harold Brandt of St. Augustine, FL; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Tom, Paul, Mark, Matt, and Tony Brandt, and Luke Wind.

Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.
