---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Mrs. William C. Foels passed away shortly before midnight Sunday at her home in this city following a lingering illness, and funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran church, at which the Rev. F. R. Ludwig will officiate. Interment will be made in Postville cemetery.

Mrs. Foels was born as Emma Wilhelmina Casten July 13, 1859, daughter of John and Minnie Casten, residents of Grand Meadow township. She was aged 78 years, 11 months and 20 days at the time of her passing.

Mrs. Foels was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith here in Postville.

She was married to Wm. C. Foels at Postville on December 7, 1882, and these people have made this community their home ever since, residing first on their farm in Post township, now occupied by C. C. Meyer, and later retiring to their home in Postville.

To this union were born five children, all of whom, together with the husband survive. These children are: Mrs. Tillie Oldag, Postville, William Foels, Harmony, Minn., Otto Foels, Postville, Mrs. Louise Brandt, Philedelphia, Penna., and Mrs. Amanda (C. C.) Meyer, Postville. She is also survived by two brothers, John and Henry Casten, of this city, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends, all of whom have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

Mrs. Louise Brandt, daughter, was unable to come for the funeral because of impaired health.
