Elisha Harris, 77, one of the early settlers of Post township, passed away Monday at the home of his son, J. M. Harris, in this city, where he had been living since last summer.

Postville, Io., Feb 18 - Died at the home of his son, J. M .Harris in Postville, Tuesday, February 11, 1896, of dropsy, Elisha Harris, aged 76 years and 4 months. The deceased was one of the early settlers of this section, having bought the homestead in Lybrand in 1854.

Ten children survive him, seven of whom attended the funeral; on account of the distance the others were unable to be here.

His wife died several years ago. Mr. Harris was an honest upright man and his death will be missed by a wide circle of friends. The funeral was at the Methodist church last Friday and the interment at Minert cemetery.
