Mrs. Ludwig Linderbaum.

Caroline Christine Christiane Linderbaum, nee Martens, was born at Vorberg, Pommeraine, Germany, on April 7th, 1853. On Sept. 24th, 1874, she was united in marriage to Ludwig Linderbaum. Eleven children were born to this union. With her husband and five children she came to America in 1882. They first found employment on the Williams farm in Grand Meadow township in Clayton county, Iowa, and from there moved to a farm near Frankville, where they resided until 1912, at which time they moved to Ossian. Three and a half years ago they came to Postville, where they have since resided. Following a protacted period of sickness she passed away on Saturday evening last at the age of 67 years, three months and three days.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband and the following children: Charley Linderbaum, Frankville; Frank Linderbaum, Cresco; Mrs. Anna Althause. Mrs. Minna Martens, Mrs. Louise schultz and Sophie, of Postville; Emma Linderbaum, Waterloo; twenty-four grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Martens of Postville, and Theo Martens of Cresco; one sister, Mrs. Henry Heins of Waverly; and two brothers in Germany.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from St. Paul's Lutheran church. Rev. E. Schmidt officiating. Interment in Postville cemetery.

The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.

The large gathering of relatives and friends from far and near in attendance at the funeral was a fitting testimonial to the high regard and esteem in which deceased was held.

The following from out of town were in attendance at the funeral -- Mrs. Anna Lansing and Mrs. Spinner of Ossian; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kock and daughter Irene, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gipp, Fred Gipp, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Lennon of Decorah; Mrs. Fred Klinkenberg and Mrs. Overbeck of Luana; Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Kaeser and family, Mrs. Mary Guth, Miss Lizzie Sherman and Simon Becker, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schukel, Mrs. Edwin Schultz and Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of Waukon; Mrs. Arthur Hartwig of St Ansgar; Mrs. Herald Luloff of Madison, Wis.
