Bonnie A. Saddler, 61 of Harpers Ferry, died Thursday, September 4, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Monday, September 8 at St. Ann's - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in
Harpers Ferry, with Fr. Louis Trzil officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Paint Rock Cemetery, rural Harpers Ferry. Martin Funeral Home
of Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
Bonnie Ann was born June 2, 1942, in rural Waukon, the daughter of Melvin and Ann (Mullarkey) DeLong. She grew up in the
McGregor-Garnavillo area where she received First Communion at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor, attended rural elementary schools,
and graduated from McGregor High School in 1959. After school she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Strutt in McGregor. On June 30, 1962, she married Frank Saddler at St. Mary's Catholic
Church in McGregor. They lived near West Union until 1967, when they moved to Harpers Ferry. In addition to being a homemaker, Bonnie spent
over 30 years working for 3M in Prairie du Chien.
She was a member of St. Ann's - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry and the Iowa Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society. Bonnie
loved spending time with and hosting her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, especially in the western states, and driving through the countryside looking for deer. She was a sports fan and particularly liked stock car racing and little league baseball.Survivors include her husband Frank of Harpers Ferry; four children, Joe (special friend Cindy Kirkeby) of Harpers Ferry, Ann (Jerry) Slaght
of Harpers Ferry, Bill (Kristy) of Monona, and Betty (Dave) Palmer of Harpers Ferry; six grandchildren, Jason, Jayme, Makenzie, Bonnie, Tyler and Jordan and two sisters, Rita Carlton of Guilde, Tenn., and Dolly (Dennis) Dryer of
Farmersburg. She was proceeded in death by her parents. Honorary casketbearers were Greg and Patti Hastings, Pat and Annie Delaney, Jim and Marlys Martelle, and Merlin and Virginia Kruger.
Casketbearers were Clem Gerhartz, Bill Lloyd, Bob Saddler, Ed Koenig, Ron Delaney, and Jim Yuhouse.Waukon Standard
