Thomas Gordon, Pioneer, Passes Away Wednesday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Thomas Gordon, aged 90 years, and for 53 years a resident of this community, passed away last Wednesday at his home on Henderson prairie, where he had lived since coming here in 1884.

Born at East Settlement, Province of Quebec, Canada, on September 15, 1847, Mr. Gordon had lived at Chippewa Falls, Wis., and at Bull's Head (now Froelich) which was then the end of the railroad in Clayton county.

He was married to Mary Miller on March 29, 1879, and the couple came to Iowa and settled on their Henderson Prairie farm, where their six children were born, all of whom survive. Mrs. Gordon passed away in 1934.

The children are C. W. Gordon of Long Beach, Calif.; Elmer of Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, Canada; Mrs. E. L. Quist and Mrs. Mary Olson, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; Milton Gordon of Postville, and Mrs. R. C. Lindstrom of Lansing, Michigan. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren as well as many other relatives.

Mr. Gordon was truly a pioneer of Iowa, who beheld the rapid progress of the midwest and in the development of which he had a definite part.

Funeral services were held at the Schutte funeral home on last Saturday afternoon with the Rev. R. F. Golloway officiating and interment was made in Postville cemetery.
