CLARK, John T. 1811-1885

CLARK, BLAKESLEE, MILLER

On Saturday morning, Jan. 17th, John T. Clark, who had for several months been quite ill, at the residence of his son-in-law, T.M. Miller, passed away. Perhaps there are few men in Northern Iowa, if any, better known than was Mr. Clark.

For thirty years he was one of the most eminent lawyers of this section of the state, if not of the entire state. He was a member of the constitutional convention that framed the present constitution of Iowa, and was at one time District attorney of the 10th Judicial district. He was an able attorney and proeminently a self-made man. Perhaps there is not a man in the district to fill the place in the legal profession that he occupied twenty years ago.

But time, the great leveler, did not sleep, and at the age of 73 years death claimed him for its own. The funeral was held from the residence on Sunday afternoon, Rev. McKim officiating. The mourning ones have our sympathy.
