Gilbert Chase Passed Away In Oregon On Oct. 09.

Mrs. H. J. Schuette of this city received the sorry news last week that her brother, Gilbert C. Chase, had passed away at his home in Hillsboro, Oregon, on Sunday, October 09, his demise following a four days illness from pneumonia. He is aged about fifty-seven years.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons, two brothers and a sister.

Deceased was well known in Postville where his boyhood days were spent. He was a graduate of Postville High School and a fine young man in every particular, and many friends hereabouts will sorrow with those bereft.

Gilbert Calvin Chase was the son of Washington Irving Chase and Lydia (Dresser) Chase.

His siblings were: Ray Chase, Alvey Louis Chase, Fred Leslie Chase, and Ada Lydia (Chase) Schuette. Ada was the only sibling who remained in Iowa. Ray had died at the age of 3 and the other two brothers also lived in Oregon like Gilbert.

Gilbert left the Postville area about 1900 After his marriage he moved his family to Colton, South Dakota where they lived until 1915 when they moved to Hillsboro, Oregon.

Gilbert was born 01 October 1875 in Postville, Iowa, and died 09 October 1932 in Hillsboro, Oregon. He married 02 November 1902 in Monticello, Iowa to Wena Wood. She was born 19 July 1881 in Flint, Michigan.

Wena died 01 January 1961 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Both are buried in the Fir Lawn Cemetery in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Their children were: Ida Clara Chase, Ray Leslie Chase, and Irving Calvin Chase
