Perry E. Cook
Perry Everett Cook, son of Aaron Burr Cook and Caroline Machemer Cook, was born on a farm in Post township on November 25, 1873. He passed away at the Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo on October 8, 1965 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 14 days.
He spent his boyhood days on the farm and received his education at the West Grove school.
On November 12, 1902 he was united in marriage with Stella M. Uhl. To this union was born two sons, Everett U. and A. Burr Cook. Stella, an infant daughter passed away on May 7, 1914.
On November 22, 1917, he was married to Mrs. Christine Weiss who also preceded him in death on October 2, 1956.
He was the last survivor of a pioneer family of seven children, three boys and four girls.
He is survived by his two sons; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ray Geiger of Waterloo; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Perry Cook was engaged in farming in Post township until 1925 when he moved to Waterloo, where he resided until his death. He lived the past three years with his stepdaughter Mrs. Ray Geiger. Perry was employed by the Chicago, Great Western Railroad from 1925 to 1950 when he retired.
He was affiliated with the E. U. B. Church.
Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville on Monday, October 11, with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Minert Cemetery.
