Paulson
Contributed by our Village Creek Correspondent
Another of our esteemed citizens Mr. Peter Paulson, passed away at his home near Village Creek, Friday last, 25th inst., at 4 p.m. Since his long residence in the community naught but good has been known of him. He was a very ambitious, hard working man, of jovial, cheerful disposition who had many friends and but few if any enemies. But few men enjoyed the esteem of neighbors and friends that he did. He is survived by a widow, four sons, Fred, Martin, William and John, two daughters, Mrs. Chas Pratt and Annie. The large funeral Tuesday, over 50 teams being in the cortege, was a fitting testimonial to his worth and of his death. Rev. Gronlid officiated at the Dalby church at 12 o'clock, m ., (sic) and one of the committeemen and also a deacon of the church, Mr. Iver Thorson, officiated at his late home where they met at 10 o'clock. The following neighbors acted as pall bearers: Messrs. Jas. Cavers, Allen Tollefson, Iver Thorson, Ole Pladson, O. Nelson and C. B. Knutson, who bore the remains to their last resting place in the Lutheran cemetery near the Dalby church. There were present many from Waukon, Lansing and other places.
Mr. Paulson's death was attributed to cancer of the stomach. Although in poor health for some time, his late illness extended over a period of only two weeks from the time he took to his bed. He was born in Norway and came to this country in 1857, was married to Miss Alma Holtz in 1869. He was aged 52 years, 6 months and 25 days. He was a member of the Lutheran church, also a member of the Maccabees order of Waukon.
