John Joseph O'Brien 91, of Sierra Vista, AZ passed away peacfully: with his wife at his side, on December 09, 2011 at home. Born Febuary 14, 1920 in Harpers Ferry, IA to William Francis and Leocadia (Healy) O'Brien both buried Paint Rock Cemetery Alamakee County, IA.

John was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School class of 1938. During the great. Depression years he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) to help out his parents on the farm. During World War II he worked at the Rock Island, ILL. Arsenal. In the late 1940's John relocted to Arizona working at the Litchfield Naval Air Station near Phoenix engaging in repair and salvage on the returning aircraft from the war.

In 1951 John moved to the bay area in northern California to work at the Alameda Naval Air Station as a aircraft mechanic. Also at this period John was a proud member of the Coast Guard Reserve.

On January 16 1980 John married Mary Josephine O'Farrell at St. Johns Catholic Church in San Lorenzo, CA. John is survived by his sister Margery M. (O'Brien) Campion, Sister in law Mary Irene (Melavin) O'Brien and Brother in law Charles C. Kottmer. He is proceded in death by his brother Raymond C. O'Brien and siter Mary Rita (O'Brien) Brannan Kottmer.

At noon on December 14 2011 a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. As per John's wishes burial will follow at Cochise Memorial Garden Cemetery, Sierra Vista, AZ. (burial plot cost of $35,000)
