Lois L. Reinhardt, 89, of Waukon, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a lengthy illness. Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 24 at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in McGregor, with Rev. William Gentry officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, in McGregor. Lois Lucille Blackwell was born July 22, 1913, at Waukon Junction, the daughter of Ralph and Nellie (Haulse) Blackwell. She was baptized and confirmed at First Congregational United Church of Christ in McGregor. Lois attended rural country schools and Upper Iowa University in Fayette were she received her teaching certificate. Lois moved back to the Waukon area where she taught at several rural schools for twenty years. On April 1, 1950, she married William H. Reinhardt. After they were married, Lois and Bill farmed in Fairview Township until 1969, when they then moved to the Rossville area. Lois also worked at Northern Engraving from 1969 to 1976. Lois was the Civil Defense Director for several area counties during the missile crisis and worked on the Gallop Poll doing surveys. Lois was a member of the Eastern Star of McGregor and taught Sunday School at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She loved working in her garden and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, William H. of Waukon; two sons, Rick (Cindy) and Bill F. (Janet) both of Waukon; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Blackwell of McGregor. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, David; three sisters, Hazel Dull, Mary Chapin, and Margaret Luce; and three brothers, John, Alan, and Orton Blackwell.
