This morning, about 10:30 o'clock, the angels hovered over the home of our neighbors and friends, Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Hecker, and beconed away the spirit of their loved daughter Mary. Though but 7 years and one month was her span of life, little Mary knew what suffering meant, having been afflicted with rheumatism for a long time, and within the past few weeks the malady assumed a dropsical form. The little one is now at ease. The bereaved and sorrowing family have comfort in the belief that their loved Mary is now in a happier home, and in the land the "inhabitants whereof never say "I am sick."

~Postville Graphic, March 12, 1896

----- -----

Died, at the residence of her parents, in Postville, on Thursday, March 12th, 1896, of inflammatory rheumatism and dropsy, Mamie, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert HECKER, aged 7 years. While the old must die it is sad to think that the young may, and often do die. Our sympathy is extended in full measure to the sorrowing family. The flower has been ruthlessly plucked but you may surely hope that it has been safely transplanted to a brighter, happier sphere.

Funeral Saturday afternoon.
