INFORMATION FROM THE ALLAMAKEE COUNTY HANCOCK HISTORY BOOK - 1913 VOLUME I:

The Postville Graphic newspaper was established by Edgar F. Medary on December 10, 1891. In 1893, Mr. Medary took charge of the Waukon Democrat because of the death of both his father and brother who owned it. The Postville Graphic was turned over to Bruce Baldwin who had the business for a brief time. Baldwin was succeeded in business by W.J. Wallis who continued the business until 1899 when he moved the plant to Waukon and with his son started the Allamakee Democrat. The venture proved to be a mistake and they sold the business to Edgar F. Medary who consolidated it with his own plant.
