Funeral services for Helen Seglar, age 75, were held Friday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. Father Daniel Keppler officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Lorna Friedlein, Grace Topel, Lena Duball, Gladys Bollman, and Velma Moritz. Pallbearers were Floyd Friedlein, Richard Moses, Daniel Byrnes, Irving Walsh, Virgil Hefner, and Earl Jones. Burial was in the Cherry Mound Cemetery in rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa. The Schultz Funeral home of Monona was in charge of the services.

Helen, daughter of Michael and Helen (Buxton) Walsh, was born December 30, 1922 at Ion, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Cherry Mound by Father Albert Neece. She received her education at the Ion Rural School and Waterville High School. Helen was united in marriage to William Joseph Seglar on October 25, 1945 at Cherry Mound by Father Albert Neece. The couple had been engaged in farming and Helen was employed by Monona Wire Corp. for ten years. Her hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards.

Helen Seglar died Monday, March 2, 1998 at the Central Community Hospital in Elkader, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, who died April 7, 1975 and three brothers Steven Walsh, Charles Walsh, and John "Sonny" Walsh.

Helen is survived by her son, Dr. William "Bill" (Barbara) Seglar of Clive, Iowa; 1 granddaughter, Jessica Seglar of Clive, Iowa; 1 sister, Mary Byrnes of Waukon, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
