Funeral services for Marguerite Bray, age 90, of Waukon, Iowa, were held Friday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery, Castalia, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon was in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Harlan Heidelbauer, Roger Ericson, Dale Roney, Dave Schon, Tom Bartling and Bruce Meador.

Marguerite, daughter of Ernest and Bessie (Clark) Allen, was born June 7, 1908 in Castalia, Iowa. Because of the ill health of her mother, Marguerite and her sister, Ruth Elinor, were raised by their maternal grandparents, Aschel and Willamina Clark. She attended Castalia Schools and graduated from Postville High School. She went on to teach country school. On July 24, 1932, Marguerite married Clarence Bray in Castalia. They farmed near Castalia from 1932-1937 and in Ludlow in Allamakee County from 1937 until moving to Waukon in 1961. She renewed her teaching certificate at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and went on to teach second grade in Waukon for many years. Marguerite was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a long-time Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of Allamakee County Retired Teachers Association.

Marguerite Bray died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence, who died March 26, 1988, a brother Ronald Allen, her sister Ruth Elinor Drilling, a half-brother, Vern Allen and a half-sister, Lucille Waterbury.

Marguerite is survived by a niece, Joan (Don) Lee of Clarksville, Iowa, a nephew Thomas (Sharon) Drilling of Waterloo, Iowa; 5 grand nieces and nephews and ten great-grand nieces and nephews.
