Funeral services for Iona Marie Leiran, age 65, were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Old West Paint Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ken Kimball officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with arrangements by Martin Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Gary Leiran, Rick Leiran, Tom Leiran, Jeff Leiran, Larre Leiran, and Jon Leiran. Honorary bearers were Joe Bakke, George Reick, Rudy Larson, and Earl Sanderson.

Iona Marie Leiran, daughter of Martin and Inga (Brenden) Leiran, was born December 4, 1931 in Waukon, Iowa. The family moved to a rural Makee Township farm when she was one year. She attended the rural "Fan" School. In 1970 Iona became a resident of Makee Manor and in 1992 moved to Northgate Care Center. She was a member of Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church and its women's circles.

Iona Marie Leiran died Saturday, April 19, 1997 at Northgate. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Helmer Marlin "Shorty" Leiran.

Iona is survived by her two brothers, Orris Leiran and Edwin Leiran, both of Waukon, Iowa and nine nieces and nephews.
