Funeral Services Held For Ella Clark
Ella Mae Clark, 74, of 122 South Park Lane, Knoxville, Iowa, died April 10, 1980 at Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville. Services were held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the St. Anthony Church, Knoxville. The funeral mass was celebrated by the Rev. Philip Ryan. A committal service was held at the Postville cemetery at 4 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. A. A. McAvoy officiating.
Ella Mae was born July 25, 1905 at Waukon, the daughter of James and Martha (Brandt) Ryan.
April 5, 1926, she was married to Dr. T. D. Clark at the St. Nicholas Church in Chicago. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1925 and was active with nursing at Collins Hospital for five years.
The couple lived at Victor, Iowa, where he practiced for 24 years. The family moved to Knoxville in 1952, where Dr. Clark was associated with the V. A. Hospital for 22 years. In Knoxville, she was a member of St. Anthony Church Altar and Rosary Society and the Marion County Medical Auxiliary and the Collins Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Surviving are her husband; son, Thomas B. Clark of Iowa City; daughters, Marjorie Ann Harris of Portland, Ore. and Mary Sue Goodyear of Buffalo, Minn.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ethel Steele of Postville was her sister-in-law.
