Conduct Rites For I. Christofferson

Funeral services were held at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, Iowa, Friday afternoon, June 23, 1978, for Ileta Marjorie Christofferson, who died Tuesday, June 20 at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The Rev. Marvin H. Marcks officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery, Postville.

Ileta Marjorie Christofferson, daughter of the late Victor C. and Josephine Ruckdaschel, was born at Postville, Iowa, September 9, 1915. She was raised and educated in the Postville area.

On August 24, 1941 she was united in marriage to Leonard Arthur Christofferson at the home of her parents in rural Postville by Rev. Fredrick Ludwig. They farmed near Postville. In 1957 they retired and moved to Elkader. In 1964 Ileta moved to Independence, where she worked at the State Mental Health Institution until her health forced her to retirement, in 1975. She moved to Monona where she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Eunice Halverson.

Ileta was baptized November 3, 1915 and confirmed, March 29, 1931 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville. She joined Peace United Church of Christ in 1958 where she remained a faithful member. She was a member of the Deborah Circle of the church.

Ileta was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, her parents, a daughter Shirley Ann in infancy, and two brothers Elmer and Earl.

She is survived by her two children, James of Enfield, Connecticut, and Mrs. Patrick (Janet) Schanbeck of Manhattan, Kansas; three grandsons Gregory and Wayne and Pat, Jr.; three granddaughters Kerri Jo, Susan, and Patricia, her stepmother Mrs. Wilma Ruckdaschel of Postville; three sisters, Mrs. Louis (Eunice) Halverson, Monona; Mrs. Donald (Betty) Knuth of Humboldt; Mrs. Oliver (Rose Marie) Doerring, Luana; two brothers, Merril Dean Ruckdaschel, Waukon, and Orville Ruckdaschel, Mesa, Arizona, and one sister-in-law Mrs. Betty Ruckdaschel of Postville, other relatives and friends.
