Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Postville for Harvey Q. Christofferson, who passed away suddenly July 27. The Rev. C. E. Witt, pastor, was in charge of the rites; burial was in Postville cemetery.

Harvey, a rural mail carrier, completed 35 years on this duty September of last year.

Harvey Q. Christofferson, the son of Walter Christofferson and Mary Olson Christofferson, was born April 30, 1906 in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on October 18, 1931. He died suddenly at his home on July 27, 1963 at the age of 57 years, two months and 27 days.

He attended public school in Luana and was united in marriage to Elsa Johansen at Little Brown Church, Nashua, on October 18, 1929. To this union were born two children.

Harvey worked as a rural mail carrier in the Postville area for 36 years, and was active in many community affairs. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville, having been a member of the Church choir and served as an usher and a teller. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge of Postville, as well as a member of the Eastern Star, and The White Shrine, McGregor. He also served as president and secretary of the Tri-City Golf Club and secretary of the Postville Bowling Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elmer of Postville, Louis of Decorah and Leonard of Elkader; and two sisters, Clara Bente of Elkader and Anna Bente of Elkader.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Joan, Mrs. Tennis Mork of Postville and Janis, at home; four brothers, Henry of Monona, Elbe of Postville, William of Postville and Herman of Postville; two sisters, Velma, Mrs. Hollis Enyart of Postville and Mrs. Alice Backhaus of Postville; three grandchildren, Allan, Larry and Terry Mork of Postville and many other relatives and friends.
