Contributor: Connie Ellis (KELLY FAMILY RESEARCHER)Funeral services for John Clem Corrigan, age 93, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, formerly of Allamakee County, Iowa, were held Monday December 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Rev. Hubert Boschert officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Military graveside services were accorded by the Harpers Ferry Honor Guard. Garrity Funeral home of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin was in charge of arrangements.
Clem was born March 30, 1897 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa to James F. and Mary (Hart) Corrigan. He served in the military during World War I. He was a member of St. Gabriel's Church in Prairie du Chien. On September 30, 1946 he married Ruth M. (Kelly) O'Brien at St. Pius Catholic Church at Cherry Mound, near Harpers Ferry, Iowa. They farmed for many years east of Rossville, Iowa in Paint Creek Township, Allamakee County. After retiring they moved to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Clem and Ruth did not have any children together, although Ruth had 3 children from a previous marriage, Cyril O'Brien, Mary O'Brien, and Helen O'Brien who was deceased by the time Ruth and Clem were married.
John Clem Corrigan died on Thursday, November 30, 1989 at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth who died in February of 1979.
Clem is survived by several nephews. Casket bearers were his nephews.
NOTE: The transcriber is not a relative on the Corrigan side of the family, however, if the information that was given to me is correct, his siblings were James V. Corrigan, Katie Corrigan, Mary Corrigan, Michael Donald Corrigan, Dorothea Corrigan, Thomas Corrigan who died in infancy, and John Corrigan, who had also died before 1896. I do not know if his sisters were married.
