Funeral services for Jared Patrick Byrnes, age 19, were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 9 at St. Mary's Hanover Catholic Church, rural Waukon, Iowa with Father Henry Charipar officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin funeral Home of Waukon in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Cory Walsh, Jason Howes, Randy Welch, Danny Kruse, Chris Kobusch, and Chris Fruechte.

Jarod Patrick Byrnes, one of triplet sons, born to James L. and Patricia (Palmer) Byrnes, was born August 25, 1978 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He attended St. Patrick's School in Waukon, Dorchester Elementary school, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1997 where he was a member of the football team and active in FFA. Jared worked for Wick's Construction last summer and did some farming and logging with his father. Recently he was employed by Reel Core Inc. of Waukon, Iowa. Jared played on the Knotty Pine softball team.

Jarod Patrick Byrnes died Friday, February 6, 1998 of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident near Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his triplet brother Nicholas James Byrnes, who died 2 days after his birth.

Jarod is survived by his parents, James L. and Patricia Byrnes of Dorchester, Iowa; 3 brothers Heath (Becky) Byrnes of Waukon, Iowa, Nicholas Byrnes, and his triplet brother, Dustin Byrnes, both of Dorchester, Iowa; his maternal grandparents, A.V. and Irene Palmer, his paternal grandparents, Clem and Jeanne Byrnes, and his maternal great-grandmother, Cora Palmer, all of Waukon, Iowa.

NOTE: In the morning of February 9, a funeral for Kevin Michael Magner was held at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa. Kevin also died of injuries suffered on February 6, 1998 in a motorcycle accident near Waukon, Iowa. The details of this accident were not given in either one of the obituaries.
