Funeral services for Donald Riss Clark, age 75, of Postville, Iowa, were held Friday, March 28, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa. Rev. Paul Birkedal of the East Clermont Lutheran Church officiated. His daughter Melissa provided special music accompanied by Joan Martins. Donald donated his body to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for research. At a later date burial will be held at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa.

Donald Riss Clark, son of Neil Charles and Clara Louise (Riss) Clark, was born June 24, 1921 at Luverne, Minnesota. He graduated from the Troy Mills High School in 1940. On April 11, 1942 Donald married Margaret Calvin Baty at Cahoka, Missouri. To this union, six children were born. Donald served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He is a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge and was a Combat Disabled Veteran, wounded on March 4, 1945 in Germany. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans, a member of the Battle of the Bulge, and a member of The Golden Acorn (87th Division Association). He had been a resident of Postville, Iowa since 1957.

Donald Riss Clark died Tuesday morning, March 25, 1997 in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lee Clark and a grandson, Douglas Wilke, both of whom died in infancy.

Donald is survived by his wife, Margaret of Postville, Iowa; 2 sons, Russell (Patricia) Clark of Waterloo, Iowa and Randolf (Carol) Clark of Clinton, Iowa; and 4 daughters, Patricia (Russell) Parker of Davenport, Iowa, Melinda Clark of Postville, Iowa, Melissa (William) Wilke of Elkader, Iowa, and Sherri (Ralph) Merrick of Klamath Falls, Oregon; 13 grandchildren, Lori Van Hooreweghe, Julie Clark, Derek Clark, Kristin Clark, Michelle Courson, AlidaLee Gingerich, Scott Parker, Jennifer Wilke, Daniel Wilke, Lanette Wilke, LeAnn Wilke, Chelsea Merrick, Shelby Merrick and 2 great-grandchildren, Sagen Parker and RidgeLee Gingerich; a brother Loren (Beverly) Clark of Dorchester, Iowa and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
