Arnold H. Cassell

Funeral services were conducted at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa, Saturday, August 24 at 10:30 a.m. for Arnold H. Cassell who died at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, August 22. The Rev. Curtis Webster officiated.

Arnold, who was known by the nickname of "Shorty", was born in Adams County, Iowa, July 17, 1906, the son of Albert and Zella Franklin Cassell. He was educated in the Corning public schools and worked a number of years for the Adams County Free Press as a press operator.

In 1936 he became a lineman for the Adams County Rural Electric, one of the first rural electric construction projects in Iowa. He was a construction lineman until 1941 when he joined the Allamakee-Clayton Cooperative of Postville, working there until his retirement July 1, 1971.

Mr. Cassell married Kate Johannes, May 13, 1930 and to this union one daughter, Margo, was born.

His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Kate, daughter Margo, son-in-law Kenneth Bull; two grandchildren, Andrea and Scott of Waterloo and a sister Mrs. Pete (Golda) Hopp of Washington, Illinois.

Burial was Monday, August 26 at Corning, Iowa in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
