Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 6, 2 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church for Mrs. John O. Casten who passed away at Community Memorial Hospital on September 4. The Rev. Lenwood L. Monte was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
Hattie A. Casten, daughter of John M. and Adelaide Harrington Thoma, was born October 14, 1900 in Postville. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of which she was a life-long member and active in the women's groups.
She was united in marriage to John Otto (Jack) Casten on February 15, 1921. The couple made their home in Postville. She passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital, Monday morning at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 20 days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sister, Louise. She is survived by two sisters, Bertha (Mrs. L. E. Palmer) of Elmhurst, Illinois, Ethel (Mrs. Donald Folsom) of Postville; nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
Mrs. Casten was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Past Noble Grands.
