Melinda Casten

Funeral services for Melinda Bertha Casten, Postville, were held at 11 a.m. March 27 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. David R. Nelson officiated.

Melinda Bertha Casten was born November 20, 1894 in Post Township, Allamakee County, daughter of Henry and Mathilda (Foels) Casten, and died March 24, 1979 in Postville.

She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, August 12, 1895, and was confirmed there April 2, 1908. She remained a lifelong member of the congregation and was an Honor Roll member of the Lutheran Church Women.

She graduated from Postville High School in 1912, attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and taught one year in McGregor Public Schools. She was employed for many years at the Citizens State Bank in Postville and was a member of Chapter FT of P.E.O.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Violette Casten and Mrs. Herman (Luella) Geick.

Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Schutte Funeral Service.
