Funeral services for Katelyn Jo Lyons, age 14, of rural Lansing, Iowa will be held Thursday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery in rural Waukon, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon, Iowa is assisting the family. Casket bearers were Randy Murphy, Jerry Murphy, Don Murphy, Dan Lyons, Don Lyons, Dennis Lyons, Dale Lyons, and Doug Lyons.

Katelyn Jo Lyons, daughter of David and Sandra (Murphy) Lyons, was born April 22, 1985 in Waukon, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. For a short time the family lived in Decorah and later in Cedar Rapids, Iowa before moving back to the Waukon area four years ago. She attended school at St. Jude's in Cedar Rapids, St. Patrick's Elementary in Waukon, and was currently a seventh grade student at Waukon Junior High. Katelyn was a member of St. Patrick's Church where she served as an altar server. She was active in the Clover Chasers 4-H Club, volleyball, swim team and summer softball programs as well as being an honor student.

Katelyn Lyons died Sunday, May 16, 1999 at her home following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her parents, David and Sandra Murphy, a brother Mitchell and a sister Morgan, both at home, her grandparents Leo and Grace Murphy of Waukon, Iowa and Ralph and Theresa Lyons of Lansing, Iowa, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
