Loretto Convent of Dubuque, Iowa, will be held Thursday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the Mt. Loretto Chapel with burial in the Mt. Loretto Cemetery in Key West. The Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Sister Mary Constance Jeanne, daughter of Philip and Margaret (Redding) Quillin, was born April 16, 1905 in West Ridge of Allamakee County, Iowa. She entered Mt. Loretto September 8, 1921, made her first profession of vows on June 2, 1924 and took her final profession of vows on June 2, 1927. She taught in Mason City, Iowa, Key West, Elkader, Iowa and Dubuque Wahlert in Dubuque, Iowa. She also taught in Algona and Storm Lake in the Sioux City Diocese. She taught English, speech and journalism. She was advisor for high school publications. After retiring in 1979, Sister Mary Constance Jeanne volunteered at the Dubuque Health Care Center. Sister Mary Constance Jeanne was one of the initial group of volunteers at the Dubuque Public Library from 1980 to 1985.
Sister Mary Constance Jeanne Quillin died Tuesday, April 27, 1999 at the Mt. Loretto Convent. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank Quillin and John Quillin and a sister, Florence Burns.
She is survived by her brother Edward Quillin of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, her sister, Rose Mulvehill of Dubuque, Iowa, a brother-in-law, Leo C. Burns of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of the Presentation at Mt. Loretto.
