Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Wilson G. Palmer, age 72, of Chillicothe, Ohio, died April 9, 1990 in Westmoreland Place of Alzheimers. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12 in the Fawcette-Oliver and Glass Funeral Home with the Rev. William Turner officiating. Burial was in the Chillicothe Cemetery on Friday morning.
Wilson was born April 2, 1918 in Franklin Township, Allamakee County to John and Della (Stahl) Palmer. His father John Palmer was a former Allamakee County Auditor. Later in the year of 1918, the family moved into Waukon, Iowa where Wilson attended school and graduated from the Waukon High School, Waukon Junior College, and graduated from Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. He was employed by Mead Products of Chillicothe as a research chemist and later as patent coordinator for about 35 years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Chillicothe and the Men's Brotherhood. He was a long-time worker with the Boy Scouts. On September 8, 1940 Wilson married Evelyn Friedley of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Wilson is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his 5 children, Kent Palmer of Fulton, Missouri, Dean Palmer of Rochester, Minnesota, Lane Palmer of Des Moines, Iowa, Anne Newman of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jill Clutter of Westerville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Felicia Dresser of Postville, Iowa, Elinor Donaldson of Postville, Iowa, and Theresa Gilbert of Arlington, Texas.
