A memorial service was held Saturday, January 16 at Prince of Peace Church in Springfield, Virginia for Lorna Mae Peoples. Lorna Mae was born September 13, 1932 in Waukon, Iowa to John and Florence (Snitker) Baumgartner. She grew up on her parent's farm and attended Ludlow #4 School. Lorna graduated from Waukon High School in 1950. The same year she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Navy Department for many years.

Lorna married Edgar "Tony" Peoples in December 1952. In later years she was a caregiver for her husband. She died Monday, January 11, 1999 at her home in Springfield, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Norman Baumgartner, and Robert Baumgartner and a sister, Linda Honn.

Surviving are her husband, Edgar; 2 daughters, Debbie (Alan) Noblling and Liz (Mike) Wojtysiak; 2 sisters, Marietta Flage of Gainesville, Florida and Alice (Gary) Bulman of Waukon, Iowa; and 9 grandchildren.
