Lester F. Turnmeyer, age 81, of Rossville, Iowa died Friday, February 2, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 5 at Martin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Jacobson officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in Rossville, Iowa. Casket bearers were George Ashbacher, Frank Unertl, Leonard Snitker, Gary Jackson, Stan Ewing, and Joe Norton. Honorary pallbearer was Eugene Deal.

Lester was born January 15, 1909 in Reedstown, Wisconsin to Andrew and Cora (Winger) Turnmeyer. He attended the Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Public High School. On July 3, 1943 he married Vivian Walters at the Third Presbyterian Church in Dubuque, Iowa. He was an inspector of government contracts at Adams Company and John Deere Works in Dubuque, Iowa during World War II. He worked at Adams Company as a machinist, John Deere Works, and F.H. Uelner Precision Tools and dyes. For several years he owned a tropical fish store in Dubuque. In 1958 they moved to Rossville, Iowa where he became a livestock farmer. He was a former member of the Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Frieda Turnmeyer.

Surviving is his wife Vivian; a brother Myron Turnmeyer of Dubuque, Iowa and an aunt, Zatha Winger of Maquoketa, Iowa and several cousins.
