Funeral services for Gilma B. Baxter, age 87, were held at the Waterville Lutheran Church, Saturday, June 15 at 2 p.m. Rev. Gary Bachman officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Rudolph Hesla, Norman Monserud, Leo McCormick, Willard Leiran, Norman Thorsen, and Glen Thorsen. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Vorseth, Steve Vorseth, and John Vorseth, Bobby Butz, Brian Butz and Gary Hesla.

Gilma was a Waterville, Iowa area resident until she entered the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa where she died June 12, 1991. She was born February 22, 1904. Her parents were Carl and Laura (Kolsrud) Vorseth. She attended rural schools and three years at Waukon High School. During her senior year she attended the new Waterville school where she graduated. On May 21, 1925 she married Clement Baxter at the Waterville, Iowa. They lived in Dubuque, Iowa and Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin where he was employed by Interstate Power Company. They returned to Waterville to farm. She was a member of the Waterville Lutheran Church, Mary Ruth Circle, WELCA and former member of the Altar Guild. She was active in Republican Party politics and Farm Bureau, of which she served one term as president. She was involved in the County Externsion Service and helped establish the Homemakers Health Aide Program.

Gilma was preceded in death by her husband, Clement, January 15, 1971; 2 sons, *their names were not given*, her parents and a brother Clarence Vorseth.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
