Lucille Ann Mitchell, 71, of New Albin died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 2 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin, with Rev. Daniel Knipper officiating. Interment was at St. Joseph Cemetery in New Albin.
Lucille Ann Strub was born May 7, 1939 in Lansing. She was the daughter of Raymond and Lillian Dammon Strub. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing. July 13, 1957 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Mitchell at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing.
She worked at Kresky’s Department Store in Cedar Rapids for a brief period and then worked as a nurse’s aid at Thornton Manor in Lansing. She and Lawrence enjoyed traveling through the years. She was a woman of many talents, she was an excellent seamstress and cook. She enjoyed the outdoors, crafts, flowers and woodworking.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence of New Albin; four children, Raymond (DiAnn Weymiller) of Waukon, and Pamela Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell and Steven Mitchell, all of New Albin; 10 grandchildren Samantha, Megan, Cody, Dietsy, Lacey, Jillian, Autumn, William, Jennifer and Lilly; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Joseph, in infancy; and a brother, Kenneth Strub.
