Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 21, for LaVern Kelly, age 73, of Waukon, Iowa. She died Thursday, July 16, 1998 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The 11 a.m. services were conducted by the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Ed Lechtenberg at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, Iowa with arrangements by the Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon, Iowa. Casket bearers were Richard and Tom Buck, Jim Hoopman, Robert Qvem, Robert Seybert and Ray Burke. Honorary bearers were Georgine Berka, Dorothy Seybert, Mary Ann Burke, Vivian Huffman, Kenneth and Betty Brandt, Alaine Meier, Dorothy Martindale, Doris Cunningham, Marion Keenan, Coreen Troendle, Eli Klenske, Betty Moen and Alice Connor.

LaVern was born October 22, 1924 to Max and Christina (Dirksen) Joerger in Cresco, Iowa where she attended school. She and Keith Kelly were married in Cresco, Iowa. They owned and operated the A & W Root Beer stand in Waukon, Iowa for many years. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Rosary Society and St. Vincent de Paul.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Keith who died July 27, 1990, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Alice Herold of Killeen, Texas.
