Charlotte E. Helming was born to parents Caroline (Pieper) and Frederick Snitker on their farm in Ludlow township, Iowa, on Oct. 27, 1896. She died on Sept. 7, 1992 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was 95.

Charlotte attended the Ludlow #3 rural school. She lived in rural Allamakee County until she moved to Waukon in 1947. She married Albert Helming on June 26, 1919 at her parents home in Waukon.

She worked for a time before marriage as a clerk at Lee's General Store in Waukon, and as a homemaker since marriage. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She had lived at the Good Samaritan Center since 1987. She was a member of the Zalmona Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, the Sarah Circle (at the Zalmona Presbyterian Church) and the Neighborhood Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert on Feb. 27, 1973; her brothers Albert, Reuben and Elmer Snitker; and her sisters Mattie Ludeking, Esther Brandt and Emma Schmidt.

Survivors include her daughter Joan (Mrs. Ben) Kruger, of Waukon; three grandchildren, Wendy (Mrs. Greg) Northcutt of Port Orchard, Wash., Ken (and wife Kristen) Kruger of DeWitt, Iowa, and Dave (and wife Pam) Kruger of Waukon. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Kyle, Kristen, Nicholas, Britanny and Stephanie.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1992 at 2 p.m. at the Zalmona Presbyterian Church, the Rev. James Jacobson officiating. Burial was in the Zalmona Cemetery.
