Elva Luetta Brincks

Elva Luetta (Turner) Brincks, 77, Farmersburg, Iowa, formerly of Postville, Iowa, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa, after a long illness. Elva was born on April 2, 1933, in Potosi, Wisconsin, to Arthur William and Ferna Melissa (Bennett) Turner and also one sister, Sylvia (Clark) Bressler. She was baptized in Burton, Wisconsin, and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Dubuque. She attended school at Burton Country School in Wisconsin, Prescott School in Dubuque, Iowa, Washington Jr. High School in Dubuque and graduated from Dubuque Sr. High School in 1951. She graduated from Calmer with an associate's degree in accounting.

Elva was united in marriage to Nicholas Joseph Brincks on October 4, 1964, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa. Two daughters were born to this union. Elva had partnershiped with her mother at the Dubuque Rooming House. She also worked at the movie theater in 1952. She worked with her mother at the tavern and dance hall in Castalia until 1959. Then she worked at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah until she moved to Postville in 1965 with Nicholas. She worked at the Turkey Plant and then at Opportunity Homes in Decorah as an office administrator.

She was a leader in TOPS in Postville. She was a circle leader at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, where she helped with music and worship. She was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. She was an active member of AL-ANON. She was also active in the SHARE program in Postville.

Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Stansberry, Farmersburg, Lola (Steve Sr.) Dahlstrom, Farmersburg; three grandchildren, Jammie (Dawn) Martin, Colesburg, Rebecca Tuecke, Farmersburg, Nicole Tuecke, Farmersburg; three step-grandchildren, Steven Dahlstrom Jr., Cedar Rapids, Timothy Dahlstrom, Cedar Rapids, Stacy Davis, Garber and five great-grandchildren, Mellyssa Boyd, Manchester, Cody, R.J., Chase, and Ryan Martin (Colesburg).

Elva was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ferna Turner; her husband, Nicholas Brincks in 1984, her daughter, Lisa Kay (infant), one grandson, Charles Tueke and one son-in-law, George Stansberry.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials to be mailed to Linda Stansberry at P.O. Box 112, Farmersburg, Iowa 52047.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa. The Pastor Jenny Edinger will officiate. Following will be a lunch at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
