Leo F. Heins

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Leo F. Heins who died at Community Memorial Hospital Wednesday, September 21, 1977. The Rev. Norris C. Swenson officiated.

Born August 15, 1901 at Postville, he was the son of Charles F. and Marie (Dahms) Heins. He attended school in Winneshiek County and the Postville high school. February 14, 1922, he was married to Mabel Marie Meyer.

He farmed the Charlie Weihe farm and then the Louis Meyer farm south of Postville, moving to Postville in 1950.

He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council and Building Committee. He also served as Director of the Postville Creamery and on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Coop. He was also city assessor.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Harry and two sisters, Mrs. Sidney (Clara) Hutchins and Mrs. Roy (Dalia) Moon.

Survivors include his wife, a son Donald, Luana; two daughters Mrs. Frank (Marilyn) Tehel and Mrs. LeRoy (Dorothy) Duwe and a foster daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Ramona) Everman, all of Postville. There are also 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons and husbands of granddaughters.

Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
