Walter L. "Chip" Clancy, age 84, of Lansing, Iowa died Monday, June 15 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lansing, Iowa with the Rev. Tom Mattson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home of Lansing in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were LaVerne Christoffer, Robert Sandry, Neil Steiber, Lloyd Welsh, Bernard Zeimet, and Kenneth Hanson. Honorary pallbearers were the Kee High Baseball Team and Coach Gene Schultz.

Walter was born July 26, 1902 in Waukon, Iowa to James and Violet (Daines) Clancy. On October 26, 1926 he married Verona Pottratz in New Albin, Iowa. For many years they operated Clancy's Restaurant and Tavern in Lansing, Iowa which was featured in an issue of Ford Times as a distinguished eating place. He was an active follower of Kee High baseball teams for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Don Clancy, George Clancy, and Jim Clancy, 4 sisters, Rose, Renee, Alice, and Edna, 2 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Surviving are his wife, Verona; 8 daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Munchoff of Sparta, Wisconsin, Mrs. Robert (Beverly) Boies, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Leppert, Mrs. Harris (Bonita) McKee, and Mrs. Bebe Truelson, all of Lansing, Iowa, Mrs. Ronald (Bernadine) Feuerhelm of Red Wing, Minnesota, Mrs. Milton (Belva) Gramlich of Monona, Iowa, and Mrs. Ken (Deanna) Zryniecki of Kenosha, Wisconsin; 2 sons, Walter Clancy, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois and Carl Clancy of Lansing, Iowa; 34 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Ellen LaVonne Betsinger of St. Charles, Illinois and Loretta Erickson of Dubuque, Iowa.
