Veronica Bakewell

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 14 for Veronica Mary Bakewell, 82; who died Monday, Dec. 10 in St. Joseph's Hospital in New Hampton. The Rev. Don Bakewell and Fr. Ed Lechtenberg conducted the 11 a:m. services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. .
Born Oct. 23, 1908 in Dorchester, she was the daughter of Ben J. and Mary Schulte. She attended rural schools and May 29, 1934 married Vincent Bakewell at St. Mary's, Dorchester. She was a member of St. Patrick's church and St. Theresa's Study Cub.
Survivors include four children, Mrs. Jerry (Eileen) Pins of Geneva, IL, Fr. Don Bakewell of New Hampton, Norb Bakewell and Mrs. Al (Marilyn) Loewen, both of Dubuque; 11 grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Francis (Mary) Hammel and Luella Bakewell, both of Waukon, Leona Doviak, Mrs. Tony (Marcella) Alberti and Lucille Thompson, all of Milwaukee, WI, and Anna Klenz of Warren, MI,and a brother, Theodore Schulte of Dorchester.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Sister Mary Genette, PBVM.
Casket bearers were Kevan Bakewell, Rick Droeske. Steve Verdon, Leo Schulte, Joe Hammel and Bob Bakewell.
Honorary pall bearers were St. Theresa's Study Club.
