Dorothy Christen, age 85, of Des Moines, Iowa died Sunday, May 3, 1987 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Family graveside services were held Friday, May 8 at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery, in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born July 1, 1901 in Waukon, Iowa to Henry and Emma (Keehn) Dravis. She attended Waukon High School and Waukon Junior College. On June 28, 1952 she married Frank Christen in Princeton, Missouri. She had been a secretary for the Iowa Commerce Commission and a clerk in the Iowa House of Representatives and the Iowa Senate. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines, Iowa, American Legion auxiliary and she was active in Republican politics.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a son John Pieper and a sister, Aurelia Brufoldt.

Surviving are her husband, Frank; 3 sons from a former marriage to Elmer Pieper, Robert Pieper of Mesa, Arizona, Roger Pieper of Des Moines, Iowa, and Richard Pieper of Los Angeles, California; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bernita Sander of Waukon, Iowa.
