Anna G. Clarke, one of Waukon's oldest residents at the age of 101, died Thursday, October 9, 1986 at Northgate Care Center where she made her home. Funeral services were held Monday, October 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Father Larry Duenas was the officiating clergyman. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Nicholas, Charles, Patrick, Bill, Terry, and James Clarke.

She was the daughter of James and Annie (Guider) Curran, born November 5, 1884 in Wexford, Allamakee County, Iowa. She attended Lansing schools and also received a teaching certificate from Waukon Junior College. In October of 1912 she married William B. Clarke at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wexford. They made their home in Dubuque, Iowa, Chicago, Illinois and Waukon, Iowa. She was a school teacher and a housewife. Anna was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Waukon, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her husband William who died in 1960; a daughter Rosemary Clarke Grimes, who died in 1960; a son William C. Clarke, who died in 1983; 6 brothers John Curran, Nicholas Curran, Leo Curran, William Curran, Joseph Curran, and James C. Curran; and 3 sisters, Agnes Dunlevy, Catherine Dasher, and Mary Kennedy.

Survivors include 3 sons, James A. Clarke of Albany, Oregon, John Clarke of Davenport, Iowa, and Robert N. Clarke of Waukon, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
