Donald George McKenna, age 42, son of Evangeline (Smerud) McKenna and the late Harold E. McKenna, died June 4, 1986 in Chicago, Illinois of an aneurism. There will be no visitation but a memorial mass and graveside service will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin, Iowa at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21. The Rev. Robert Rahe will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in New Albin, Iowa. * His birthdate was not listed in the obituary but from another source, he was probably born on September 15, 1943.*

Donald attended Catholic Central grade school in Caledonia, Minnesota, St. George High School in Lansing, Iowa and St. Patrick's High School in Waukon, Iowa. He served in the Army from 1961-1964. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he resided in Chicago. He was employed by Spiral Binding Company, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois at the time of his death.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Marie McKenna, Teresa McKenna, and Susan Marie McKenna.

Survivors include his mother Evangeline McKenna of Clutier, Iowa; a son Sean McKenna, age 17; 7 sisters, Patricia Herzog of Melbourne, Iowa, Kathleen Wankel of McGregor, Iowa, Michelle Caccavale of Palatine, Illinois, Colleen Spinner of Kremmling, Colorado, Bridget Robinson of Park Forest, Illinois, Evangeline McKenna of Boston, Massachusetts, Constance McVey of Denver, Colorado, and Maureen Stover of Arvada, Colorado; 4 brothers, Kenneth McKenna of Raymond, Iowa, Thomas McKenna of Seattle, Washington, Gerald "Jerry" McKenna of Boulder, Colorado, and Brian McKenna of Arvada, Colorado; his maternal grandmother Mrs. Oscar (Clara Wild) Smerud; 22 nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in the area.

Note: In the St.Joseph's Cemetery,New Albin, Iowa there is listed a son of Donald, a Robert McKenna, birthdate unknown but his deathdate was June 7, 1966. However, this son was not listed in Donald's obituary as preceding him in death.
