Edward C. Kubitz, age 91, of Waukon, Iowa died Friday, March 13, 1987 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, March 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Greg Kubitz, Sean Quillin, Gary Kubitz, Doug Kubitz, Bruce Kubitz, Mike Quillin, and Kevin Quillin. Honorary pallbearers were Tim, Pat, and Terry Quillin, Dan McGovern, Bob and Eddy Kramer, Carl Brandsmeier, George Herman, Nelson Sherman, Harold Severson, Bob and Rick McGovern, and Rick Barthelme.

Edward was born May 11, 1895 in Houston County, Minnesota to Charles and Mary (Dehning) Kubitz. He attended local schools. He married Jane Reburn on October 23, 1918 in New Albin, Iowa. She died December 16, 1979. He was a farmer and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Jane; 2 brothers, George Kubitz and Alfred Kubitz, and a sister Pearl.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Kubitz of Waukon, Iowa and Allen (Bud) Kubitz of Camanche, Iowa, and 5 daughters, Mrs. Ben (Marcella) Quillin of Waukon, Iowa, Mrs. Fred (LaVon) Barthelme of LaCrescent, Minnesota, Mrs. Terry (Betty) Hogan of Postville, Iowa, Mrs. Marjorie Kramer of San Diego, California, and Mrs. Donna McGovern of Maquoketa, Iowa; 29 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Otto Kubitz of Ossian, Iowa and Arlie Kubitz of New Albin, Iowa and a sister Mrs. Florence Irons of Charles City, Iowa.
