Mrs. Charles Mayer, daughter of Mrs. J.M. Thoma of this city, passed away Saturday morning at a hospital in Minneapolis, Minn, where she had been a patient for a number of weeks. Funeral services were held in that city Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock.
Mrs. Mayer was born as Louise Dorothea Thoma in Postville on March 6, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Thoma. She attended the local schools and graduated from Postville high school and later from Iowa State Teachers College.
For a number of years she was a physical culture instructor in the public schools in Spencer, Iowa, and Minneapolis, Minn. In the latter city she was married to Charles Mayer on April 16, 1922, and that city had been her home since.
She is survived by her husband and four daughters, Mrs. Paul Toft, Jr., Charlotte, Frieda and Harriett, all of Minneapolis. Also surviving are three grandchildren living in that city, and her mother, Mrs. J.M. Thoma, and three sisters, Mrs. L.E. Palmer, Mrs. John O. Casten and Mrs. Donald Folsom, all of Postville.
