Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Earl Bennett Henderson, age 81, died Friday August 27, 1982 at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa where he had been residing since 1973. Funeral services were held Monday, August 30 at 1:30 p.m. from Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Curtis Webster officiated. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery at Volney, Iowa. Pallbearers were Jim McNally, Leland Meyer, William Mathis, Vernon Cooper, Roland Wagner, and Alan Wagner. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Earl was born June 6, 1901 at Volney, Iowa, the son of William and Maude Mae (Stafford) Henderson. He attended rural schools. He was married to Daisy Marie McNally in November of 1923 at the Cherry Mound, St. Pius Catholic Church. Henderson was a farmer and a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Daisy in 1930, a son James Henderson who died in Germany in 1945, and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Gladys) Huffman.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Walter (Darlene) Donath of Zingle, Iowa, and Mrs. William (Betty) Kraus of Dubuque, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Forrest Henderson of Monona, Iowa and 3 sisters, Mrs. Harmon (Marian) Cooper and Mrs. Lowell (Violet) Walters, both of Waukon, Iowa, and Mrs. George (Ruth) Smith of Monona, Iowa.
