Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church for Mrs. Frank (Ella) Hangartner, who died Thursday, January 19, 1978 at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville.

Born September 12, 1890, in Grand Meadow Township, she was the daughter of Frederick and Wilamina Schultz Renzman. She was educated in rural schools and pursued a practical nursing career in McGregor and at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, until called home because of the illness of her father.

September 16, 1927 she was married to Frank Hangartner in Emanuel Lutheran Church at Mason City and they lived on a farm southwest of Postville.

A lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Postville, she was baptized November 16, 1890 by the Rev. John Gass and confirmed by the Rev. P. E. Bockelmann on Palm Sunday, 1904. An Honor Roll member of the LCW, she had held many offices within the organization.

She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Past Matron and member of the Past Matron's club. She also was active for many years in the Textile Department of the Big Four Fair, Postville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1959 and a brother John. She is survived by two nieces, Marcia Renzman Nost and Betty Renzman Hammond, both of Cedar Rapids and their two sons, Erick Nost and Lyle Hammond. Also preceding her in death were her stepchildren, Florence, Harold, Gretchen, John and Robert. Surviving stepchildren are Margaret Volmer of Goleta, California and Frank W. Hangartner of Whittier, California. There are 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
