Fred J. Thiele, age 59, of Eitzen, Minnesota died Sunday, December 4, 1988 at St. Francis Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin of a heart attack. Services were Wednesday at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen, Minnesota with the Rev. Lane C. Zaffke officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Haugen-Roble Funeral Home of Caledonia, Minnesota was in charge of arrangements.

Fred was born on July 22, 1929 in Caledonia, Minnesota to John and Hanna (Staggemeyer) Thiele. He married Beverly Grosskopf on October 28, 1950 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was a lifelong area resident and farmed in Winnebagao Township, Houston County, doing custom farming and trucking as well. He attended Caledonia High School and was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Eitzen. He was a charter member of the Eitzen Lions and was a former president. He served on the St.Luke's Church Council.

He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Eitzen, Minnesota; 1 son, David Thiele of Eitzen, Minnesota; 2 daughters, Cathy Reinke of New Albin, Iowa and Jane Lovich of St.Paul, Minnesota; 3 grandchildren; 1 brother, Dean Thiele of Lebanon, Tennessee and 2 sisters, Fern Westerhouse of Faribault, Minnesota and Joan Kordsiemon of Tucson, Arizona.
