Lifetime area resident Raymond Michael Bresnahan, age 78, of Waukon, Iowa died Tuesday, August 1, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services were held Friday, August 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St.Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in St.Mary's Hanover Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Virgil Smith, Pat Bresnahan, Joe Gallagher, Neil Becker, Phillip Liddiard, and James McCormick. Honorary pallbearers were John Larkin, James Plein, Kenneth Howe, Mike Burke, Leo Murphy, and Wally Mahr.

Raymond was born January 7, 1911 on the family farm in Hanover Township to Timothy and Frances (O'Connor) Bresnahan. He attended elementary school in Lansing, Iowa and also St. Birchman's Academy in Marion, Iowa through the seventh grade. On March 1, 1938 he married Fern Moe at St.Patrick's Church. They farmed in Hanover Township for many years and he also ran Bresnahan Implement in Waukon, Iowa from 1956 to 1962. He was a member of St.Patrick's church, Farm Bureau, and Farmers Union.

He was preceded in death by three sons: Alan, who died in Vietnam in 1969 and two in infancy, and a sister Eileen.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Neil Bresnahan of Waterville, Iowa and Dennis Bresnahan of Dorchester, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Rudy (Cheryl) Tekippe of Pasadena, California, Mrs. Jeff (Marcia) Johnson of Clintonville, Wisconsin, and Lori Bresnahan of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Maurice (Mary) O'Regan, and Ann Davis of Waukon, Iowa and Josephine Lockman of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a brother, Joseph Bresnahan of Waukon, Iowa.
