Valiere Dundee

Valiere Dundee, 89, of Waukon, died Sat., May 5, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.

Memorial services will be held Tues., May 8, at 4 p.m., at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with Rev. Richard N. Eick officiating. Friends may greet the family following the services.

Lincoln Valiere Dundee was born Feb. 7, 1912, in rural Waukon. His parents were Glenn and Laura (Goeke) Dundee. He attended rural Waukon schools for a time before moving to Cozad, NE, where he lived with relatives for nine years. He also attended schools in Cozad before returning to Waukon in 1933.

On Dec. 24, 1938, he married Florence Eckert at the home of Rev. Van Nice in Waukon. Valiere started in auto repair, welding, and implement repair. Later he owned and operated the Dundee Implement in Waukon for many years. He retired in 1979.

Valiere was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where he held numerous offices. He was a 50 year member of the Waukon Pioneer Fire Company, formerly serving as fire chief. He was also a former trustee for Veterans Memorial Hospital and the Robey Memorial Library.

Valiere enjoyed wood working, horses, and trail riding, as well as travel, visiting all 50 states. Valiere also had an interest in steam engines and was involved in Waukon Threshing Days from the first years of the event. He loved to visit with people and enjoyed his time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leland; and two sisters, Lorna Thornton and Stella Frazear. Survivors include his wife, Florence, of Waukon; a daughter, Kay (Len) Pallas of Papillon, NE; a son, Lynn (Diane) Dundee of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Nancy Ellingson, Mark Ellingson, Lance (Michelle) Dundee, and Sarah (Chris) Kircher, and a great grandson, Michael Kircher.

Casket bearers are his grandchildren and their spouses. Members of the Waukon Pioneer Fire Company will serve as honorary casket bearers.

Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is assisting the family.
