Funeral services were held Monday January 9, 1989 for two young Lansing women who were killed Thursday, January 5, 1989 in a car accident near Tama, Iowa. Marie Kay Manning and Barbara Ann Mettille, both 18, were 1988 graduates of Lansing Kee High School and were students at Mount Mercy College School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Father Herbert Tegeler conducted the double service held at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, Iowa where both were members. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marie Kay Manning was born January 15, 1970 in Waukon, Iowa to James and Kathryn (Wilchinski) Manning. Surviving are her parents; two brothers Frances and Paul, all of Lansing, Iowa; a sister Jane of Dubuque, and her grandparents, Mike and Doreen Wilchinski of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Burial was in Wexford Cemetery. Casket bearers were Kyle Hogan, Tracy Meyers, Troy Meyers, Kevin Platten, Mike Carroll, and David Ferkingstad.
